Cycling power zones

What are power zones?

Power zones divide riding intensity into ranges based on FTP. They help describe training intensity, structure workouts and interpret how demanding an effort is relative to your current threshold.

Zones change when FTP changes

As FTP improves or declines, the watt ranges assigned to each zone change too. Updating FTP periodically keeps the zones relevant.

 Calculate your FTP now

A seven-zone model

A widely used approach includes active recovery, endurance, tempo, threshold, VO2max, anaerobic capacity and neuromuscular power. Exact boundaries depend on the model used, so always interpret the numbers within the chosen system.

Start with an FTP value

If you do not know your FTP, estimate it from a structured test or upload a TCX activity containing power data.

Calculate your FTP, then bring your power zones into Ciclistiamo.
